USE:
- Use form one to applaud indiscriminately, for instance, about the situation in general.
- Use form two when there's no possible ambiguity. In the example, there's only one bottle present.
- Use form three when there are many instances of <thing> present, and you want to applaud one of them in particular.
- Use forms four through eight to add a modifier, typically an intensifying adverb, to the verb.
- Use forms four through eight to add a modifier, typically an intensifying adverb, to the verb.
- Use forms four through eight to add a modifier, typically an intensifying adverb, to the verb.
- Use forms four through eight to add a modifier, typically an intensifying adverb, to the verb.

As is typical of most Midgaard commands, Applaud searches for <thing> in a specific order, starting with the room you're in, then your worn or wielded equipment, then your inventory. So, if there's a box in the room, and a box in your inventory, the command "applaud box" will refer to the one in the room, not your inventory. You'd need to use "applaud 2.box" for the latter.
Applaud can be modified with an arbitrary word of your choice. Usually you'll use an intensifying adverb as shown in the examples above. Note that Applaud does not use this modifier as a search specifier when looking for <thing>. Instead Applaud displays this modifier via the Game channel. Thus you can "applaud loudly", "applaud enthusiastically", and so on. You can also "applaud 18373649" or "applaud toothpaste-like", so, please don't. It's up to you to get the syntax right.
