Experience

Experience represents accumulated knowledge, lore, and skill, in a fairly abstract way. Using our GUI clients, the Experience tab will show you how much you've got. With a MUD client, type 'experience', or 'status'. This way if someone ever asks you "have you ever been experienced?" you can answer yes, to the exact quantity.

Unlike TriadCity, your character does not automatically accumulate Experience by simply exploring. In Midgaard pretty much all Experience comes from combat, including use of magical spells if you're a Mage or Cleric. It's a hack-and-slash kinda World.

Additional experience bonuses are applied automatically under specific circumstances. These bonuses can be significant. Click the link to see the current list.

Experience is a very central thing in Midgaard, because it determines when new spells will become available to you, and how powerful you are in comparison with NPCs. As you gain Experience you'll be able to combat tougher opponents, and to successfully explore more of the World.
