How many players are there?

About 9,000, with hundreds of thousands of characters.

But note the fine print. This number is the total shared between Midgaard and our far larger flagship World, TriadCity. Also, obviously, not all of these folks are currently active. The really great thing is that our players are friendly, generous, sociable, and well-behaved. Mercifully, both Midgaard and TriadCity have been free of the flame culture and prima donna ism of much of the earlier MUD tradition. Even our forums are safe. This is an accomplishment we're proud of. We write for "smart grownups". We weed out teenage flame boys — or people who act like them — quite quickly.
