Hi everyone. Quick alignment-related question. My char Crane is currently at Level 11 with a neutral alignment and 0 drift. I originally planned to keep them neutral, then learned it costs $10000 to apprentice one of the Neutral guilds. So, since Crane’s a bit edgy but not quite evil, good seems like the way to go. Unfortunately, Crane’s hitroll is stuck at 4 and the highest I’ve been able to get the damroll is 5-10, so my usual method of acquiring good karma, kicking the crap out of evil things, isn’t feasible at the moment. I thought I could gain some goodness points by recycling and helping some elfin refugees, but neither worked. Does anyone know of any relatively nonviolent ways to get to +1000, or is going after spiders and deathsuckers still my best bet?

I'm sorry I haven't been able to play much lately or I'd spot you the $10k.

Don't let lack of scratch force you down a path you don't want to go. Ask higher-levels for a loan, or to help you round up the dinars.

Have you been selling the clothes from the deathsuckers you kill? Cleargirdle and Cadaver buy the jackets and pants. Surefoot buys the shoes. They're worth about $500/deathsucker if I remember. It doesn't take long to get to $10k just from that. (But merchants run out of money so you have to time your sales right after reboots.)

I haven’t been able to kill any of them yet, or that’s the first thing I’d try. Haven’t been able to learn any useful weapons skills. I did buy some brass knuckles from the Children’s Market which brought my damroll up a little, but the hitroll’s still stuck at 4. Do you know of any ways to get that number up?

I have a seriously badass dagger I got for Hyacinth, I'll try to get on tomorrow if I find you there. You'll need the skill. Or I can get a similar knife if that's better. Also kickass lightweight armor.

Many gauntlets and armbands increase hitroll, damroll, strength, or all three. See if anybody has some you can have or borrow. I may but will have to look.

Platinum items increase hitroll and damroll (but they're heavy). Silver things (rings, gauntlets, whatnot) increase hitroll, gold damroll.

Are there sachets which increase hit or dam? Kata will know. Def sachets that are + str, which is good for fighting and lets you wear the heavy gauntlets.

We should start a lore sticky with info on item stats, like the one Meghan started for Midgaard.

Thanks. I’ll check the stores and see if I can find any of the items you mentioned. That Lore topic sounds like an excellent idea, and Hyacinth’s really sad she didn’t live long enough to use that dagger. Is there somewhere to learn the dagger/stab skills other than a guild?

Not that I know of, they're Role-limited.

There may be a level requirement on the dagger & knife, I don't know. We'll find out.

Ah ok, thanks for letting me know. I guess I could try a staff but I’d still need the Thrash skill and that’s guild-locked too. As for items you mentioned in your last post, the only one I’ve found to boost hitroll so far is the studded leather bracers. Thought the studded leather shirt might have a similar affect, unfortunately not. Topaz armbands didn’t contribute anything either, and there’s not much gold or silver around, though I’ll keep looking. I did discover that gold-rim specs give you a pretty significant intelligence boost. That’ll be useful next time Crane levels.
